Pregnancy is one of the most special times in a woman's life. But it also comes with many changes. Which is why it is suggested for the mother to take all the necessary precautions to ensure safe health and well-being of her and the child.

The first trimester is one of the most important for duration for a mother as her body goes through numerous physical and hormonal changes. During this period a mother is also given a list of things which she should consider for her and the baby's health. So to help you with the same, here are some of the guidelines which you follow.

1) Eating A Healthy And Balanced Diet

Eating a healthy and balanced diet during pregnancy is crucial for both the mother and the child. You should try to include different fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. As they are a great source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber, while whole grains provide energy and essential nutrients.

Also it is recommended that pregnant women avoid certain foods, such as raw or under cooked meat and fish with high levels of mercury, and limit their intake of caffeine and sugar.

2) Don’t Bend While Lifting

During pregnancy It's important for mothers to take care when lifting heavy objects, to avoid straining their muscles and potentially harming their baby. As the woman's bones and ligaments tend to loosen during pregnancy, and her joints are not as stable as they once were. Because of this, carrying anything heavy increases your risk of slipping and tripping.

Still if you have to pick a heavy object it is recommended to use proper lifting techniques that involve keeping their back straight and bending at the knees. This will help distribute the weight evenly and reduce the risk of straining their muscles. Additionally, as your pregnancy progresses and your belly grows, your centre of gravity shifts forward, putting extra strain on your lower back.

3) Don’t Drink And Smoke

Avoiding the use of alcohol and tobacco during pregnancy is one of the most important decisions a mother should take. As it can create serious and long-lasting effects on your baby. Such as birth defects, developmental delays, and behavioural problems. Other than this it also increases the risk of miscarriage, preterm labour, and stillbirth, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Even the World Health Organisation suggests avoiding alcohol and tobacco at its fullest.

4) Give Up Caffeine And Carbonated Beverages

Giving up caffeine and carbonated beverages during pregnancy is another important precaution that mothers should consider. As caffeine is a stimulant that can cross the placenta and affect the developing fetus, leading to potential health risks such as decreased fetal growth and an increased risk of miscarriage.

Even carbonated beverages, such as soda, can also lead to discomfort, and heartburn during pregnancy. So it is said for the mothers to either stop the carbonated drinks at all or limit its intake. Doctors even recommend to opt for water, which is essential for hydration, or other caffeine-free and non-carbonated drinks.

5) Avoid Certain Foods

Try to avoid packaged foods as much as you can. As they include chemicals to maintain enhanced colour, texture, and flavours. These processed meals can have a negative impact on the unborn child when consumed by pregnant women.

Also try to avoid the use of raw or undercooked food. Such as meat, fish, and unpasteurized dairy products.

6) Take Proper Rest

Pregnancy can be very physically and emotionally demanding, so it's important to get enough rest and sleep to help you feel energized and refreshed. It's recommended that pregnant women get at least 7-9 hours of sleep and also take regular naps during the day.

Expectant mothers may also experience discomfort and difficulty sleeping due to the physical changes that occur during pregnancy. This can be reduced by engaging in relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, yoga, and meditation, which can also help promote rest and reduce stress.
