How to Prevent Infections During Pregnancy

Getting an infection during pregnancy can be very dangerous for your health as well as for your baby’s. So taking proper precautions to prevent infections during pregnancy is quite important and this is what we are going to share today.


1) Food

Whenever you plan to cook something. Make sure to wash the raw material before cutting, knives, chopping board, or any other that might get in touch. Also there are some foods that you must avoid during pregnancy. We have discussed this in our previous articles.


2) Vaccination

Vaccination is quite important during this period. As it protects your baby from different kinds of infections. For this you should consult with your doctor and he will suggest the best way to go ahead with this.


3) Wash Your Hands

You should wash your hands on a regular basis. But more importantly you should wash hands:

  • Before eating food
  • After being around animals
  • Touching your nose, or any cloth with dust on it
  • After touching any type of raw material

Regular washing of hands will help in prevention of flu and cold.


4) COVID-19 Precautions

Make sure that you have taken all the doses of COVID Vaccine. Getting infected by this type of virus can be very dangerous for you and your baby’s health. Also ask your doctor to suggest some precautions to avoid the same.


5) Pet Care

If you have a pet, be it a dog, cat, bird, etc. Ask your family member to take care of them for some time or if you want to do it yourself. Make sure you wear gloves and then wash your hands properly. As their litter contains toxoplasmosis, it can cause different types of health problems for you and your baby.



6) STI Test

Sexually Transmitted Infection is a infection which you get from doing unprotected sex with someone who’s infected. There are very few chances that you can know this. So if you get pregnant make sure to get this test. As it help you avoid any type of serious problem that might appear in future. Such as premature birth and birth defects.


7) Talk With Doctor

It is highly recommended to everyone that they should talk to their doctor. So that he/she can suggest to you everything that you should take care of and if there are any types of test that you should go through to avoid future situations.
