Diet And Nutrition To Raise IQ Of Baby During Pregnancy

A new study has found that what a woman eats during pregnancy can have an effect on her child's IQ. Researchers say that a diet rich in vegetables, fruit, and fish can lead to a higher IQ in children, while a diet high in sugar and processed food can lead to a lower IQ.

The study followed more than 3,000 women who were pregnant between 1959 and 1965. The women completed dietary surveys and their children were given IQ tests at the age of 8. The researchers found that those children whose mothers had eaten the most vegetables, fruit, and fish during pregnancy had the highest IQ scores.

While the exact mechanism by which diet affects IQ is not known, the researchers say that it is likely due to the effects of nutrients on brain development. They advise pregnant women to eat a healthy diet in order to give their child the best chance at a high IQ.

1) Vitamin D

Vitamin D is very important during pregnancy as it helps regulate the quantity of calcium as well as phosphate that is present in the body. As it is very important for your child. There are some food items. Which you can have to keep your Vitamin D in check. Such as

  • Eggs
  • oilseed fish (such as mackerel, salmon herring, sardines and salmon)
  • Red meat
  • Cereals
You can also stay in sunlight to absorb Vitamin D. But make sure to get a doctor recommendation on the same.


2) Folic Acid

Folic acid is an antioxidant that helps prevent birth defects. It is commonly known as neural tube defects.

4) Iron

Iron is related to the amount of anemia you suffer during pregnancy. The lower the iron the higher the chances of you feeling anemia. So to keep your iron capacity in check. You can have food items. Such as:

  • Lean meat
  • Green leafy vegetables
  • Dried fruit and nuts
  • peanuts
